The United States, officially the United States of America, is a country in North America , a federal republic  of 50 states.

The national capital is Washington , which is situated in the District of Columbia , the federal capital region created in 1790.

It was named after George Washington, the first president of the country.

The total population of the United States is large by world standards over 308 million people.

English is the official language of the country.

Major U.S. cities are Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

New York City, officially The City of New York, by name the Big Apple, is a city and a port located at the mouth of the Hudson river . It is the largest and most influential American metropolis.

New York has a lot of fascinating places of interest.

One of the famous symbols of the USA, the Statue of Liberty, was built in New York Harbor in 1886.

The Empire State Building is the most famous building in the world.

The Guggenheim New York Museum is famous for its landmark building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and for its impressive collection temporary art shows.

Central Park is one of the top New York attractions  that locals love too, and it is the heart and soul of the city. 

Times Square is New York’s busiest attraction, a global legend.  One of the biggest events in December, New Year’s Eve, takes place in Times Square.
